Peak of Hurricane Season!

You can't live in South Louisiana without wondering if a hurricane will strike this year. Don't forget your pet in your disaster preparations!

For detailed information please visit the Louisiana Homeland Security & Emergency Preparedness site. Not only do they have excellent tips for your pets, but they have information for the whole family!

Pounce and Etcetera (both adopted from APAWS!) are very excited their parents made a hurricane preparation kit!

We are in Desperate Need of Foster Homes!

DollyDolly is a very sweet dapple dachshund. She is blind, but doesn't let that stop her! She gets along well with other dogs. If you are interested in fostering this beautiful girl please fill out the Dog Foster Application!

We are also in need of cat foster homes. We have almost every age and color. If you are interested please fill out the Cat Foster Application!

Sirius

You may remember Sirius from the May newsletter. Unfortunately instead of his situation getting better it has gotten worse. In addition to his severe case of heartworms he also has the worst case of hip dysplasia seen by Sherwood South Animal Hospital. He is no longer emaciated, but he is having problems walking. The vet described his condition as having no balls in the hip sockets. This is a very painful condition. Now that we know about the condition we are treating him with daily pain medication. His medication currently runs around $90 a month. If you can assist in paying for his medication we would appreciate it! Donate for Sirius All donations are tax-deductible.

Bonded Pairs - Adopted

APAWS tries very hard to find the right home for each pet. Sometimes this means they stay with their foster parent for a long time. When we have a bonded pair we make every effort to find them an adoptive home where they can be together. We recently had two bonded pairs adopted who have been in foster care for nearly three years! Annabelle Lea and Sweetpea (now Jolie and Evangeline) are two very sweet dogs who came into our group together. They rely on each other and we are so happy they were adopted together! Boots and Rosie are two very sweet cats who came into the same foster home at different times. They were instant friends and couldn't bear to be separated.
